Song for a Byrdie

Bracing for braces, pull out your pen popping zits

All lined up like the night sky dreamin’

Gods where you at now?

Must have been sleeping

High off that Aphrodite’s lips

Stained curse the cruelty of unrequited passion

He tried to pay for the night

Knowing full well he was no knight

Punching a hole in the sky

‘Till I know the reason why

Love always dies blind

Following the path to true love

Where’s it at? Underneath the blood stained

Covers where hiding the innocence

Lost is to be found the surprise

In the cereal box, Cracker Jacks

Know the cost of playing daddy

Try to play off the lonesome night

He knows full well he had no right

Vaporizing all within the night sky

Bleeding hearts rarely find out why

Seeing red are these eyes blind

The speed of light isn’t fast enough

To break through this curse of rough

Luck take a deep breath in

Hope is not what you win

It’s blood bought and sold to the highest bidder

Ring, ring we have the closest thing to a sinner

Put on your scarlet letter, harlot

Hide that shame you can barely name

The one toddling at your feet, Scarlet

Red your cheeks remain

Frozen by your only shame, starlet

Though not by fame, only by pain

Gathering the stars she holds them for night

To see only the darkness inside can be a blight

Holding onto to the sun shining in the sky

We could know all the answers and still not know why

Love always dies blind
